Tornado and the Kalahari Horse Whisperer gross 6 accolades at the prestigious Angel Awards.
In a small period of time, Tornado and the Kalahari horse whisperer has garnered an enviable number of awards both locally and internationally. “This film is about broken people”, says Director Regardt Van Den Bergh. It follows the lives of Pierre, a depressed and damaged young man, and Tornado, an emotionally damaged yet immensely talented horse.
The film was a big winner recently at the glitzy Angel Awards ceremony held in Monaco. Since 2003, the Angel Awards has become a respected film festival, celebrating a very specific genre. The Angel Awards acknowledges outstanding achievements in non-violent, family friendly entertainment. At the most recent ceremony, Tornado and the Kalahari Horse Whisperer swept the floor claiming no fewer than 6 awards.
Tornado and the Kalahari horse whisperer claimed the following awards:
- Best Script
- Best Director
- Best Cinematography
- Best Supporting Male Actor
- Best Music
- Angel Humanitarian Award.
After sensing Tornado’s talent, Pierre travels to Noenieput, in the Groen Kalahari to find Barrie Burger, a revered horse whisperer. Following Barrie’s advice, Pierre and Tornado embark on a journey of healing and self discovery.
“I believe we are all broken and we could all do with some healing”, says Regardt Ven Den Bergh, of Faith like Potatoes fame. “Tornado and the Kalahari horse whisperer is a true life film of patience, endurance and passion.”
The screening and the award ceremony took place at the Princess Grace Theatre, between the 3 and 6th of December 2009, in Monaco and was attended by an impressive assortment of industry professionals and dignitaries.
